Sandies Bathala
Sandies Bathala reopened February 2019 and is run by one the best management companies around Planhotel (think Diamonds Resorts).
The island will remain a simple 4-star and will bring a great value all inclusive option to the Ari Atoll. The house reef surrounding the island is stunning, with colourful fish, reef sharks and turtles regularly spotted.
There will be 73 bungalows and water villas, a buffet restaurant, a seafood restaurant and a beach bar.
Our Opinion
Sandies is part of the Planhotel group who also run Diamonds Athuruga and Thudufushi. They are excellent so Bathala will likely become very sought after. And with the excellent house reef and good value accommodation, best to book it early!
Location
Bathala is located along the north-eastern rim of the Ari Atoll, just a 15-minute scenic seaplane ride from Male airport, and it has long been a popular spot with divers from all around the globe.
Accommodation
There are 73 villa each with air-conditioning, a small fridge, semi-open air garden bathroom, hairdryer and sunbeds.
Room Types:
Beach Villas – are circular-shaped and dotted around the island opening onto the stunning white sandy beach.
Water Villas – Are new! More information is forthcoming.
Restaurants & Bars
For dining, there will be a buffet restaurant where all your meals are included, with a fresh fish barbecue, live cooking stations and local dishes. An additional seafood restaurant will offer freshly caught seafood specialities and fresh lobster menus in a romantic setting on the beach. Guests can quench their thirst at the beach bar, which will be a great place to relax and unwind after exploring the magnificent marine life. Accommodation options are refreshingly simple; choose to stay in a charming beach bungalow or water villa.
