With its warm atmosphere, wonderful beach, exquisite restaurants, lively bars, high-end Cinq Mondes Spa and the extensive recreational and sporting activities, La Pirogue promises guests a memorable holiday.
The resort has magnificent tropical gardens where the fragrance of hibiscus and frangipani permeate the majestic coconut grove. In a perfect location on the west coast of Mauritius: one of the best lengthy beaches of the Indian Ocean; picturesque views of world heritage mountain, Le Morne. Newly refurbished hotel in a Boho Chic style, with the unique feature in Mauritius, with all rooms located at ground level, complete with a private terrace overlooking the majestic coconut grove.
Our Opinion
This is a good standard 4-star resort and was completely refurbished in 2017. While informal it has lovely rooms, lush gardens and a spectacular beach. The resort offers a sense of space and guests are able to use facilities of the sister property Sugar Beach. Our Retail Manager Becs visited in September 2017 and can offer first hand knowledge and advice.
Location
La Pirogue is located at Flic en Flac on the west coast of the island, about 1 hour from the airport.
Accommodation
The rooms at La Pirogue are tucked away in individual grounded thatched bungalows that open privately onto the palm grove and the turquoise lagoon. These rooms offer a convivial, cosy and authentically Mauritian atmosphere.
Garden Bungalows – Facing the resorts lush coconut grove, these rooms offer a convivial and cosy atmosphere in thatched and grounded bungalows with a private patio. 25sqm in size complete with King Size or Twin Beds and can accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults.
Family Garden Bungalows – 2 connecting Garden bungalows, each with their own private facilities including bathroom and terrace. Includes amenities and attention for kids, such as kids bathrobes and bath products, special minibar items, bathroom step for easy access to vanity and goodies basket on arrival. 50sqm in size, complete with King Size or Twin Beds and can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children or 4 adults.
Premium Garden Bungalows
Unique semidetached thatch-roofed Bungalows, each with its own furnished terrace occupying a place of privacy in an extensive tropical garden with one of the largest coconut palm plantations on the island. 25sqm in size, complete with King Size or Twin Beds and can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults.
Beach Pavilions – Individual single Pavilions each with their own private terrace located only metres away from the beach, offering uninterrupted views of the lagoon and the sea. 35sqm in size, with King Size or Twin Beds and can sleep 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults.
Deluxe Beach Family Pavilions – 2 connecting Pavilion rooms, each with their own private facilities including large bathroom and terrace. These rooms can be sold individually or as a unit with 2 connecting rooms Including amenities and attention for kids, such as kids bathrobes and bath products, special minibar items, bathroom step for easy access to vanity and goodies basket on arrival. 70sqm in size, with King Size or Twin Beds and can sleep 2 adults and 2 children or 4 adults.
Senior Suite Pavilions – Personalized service in our elegant tropical luxury ground floor suite located in a unique individual thatched roof Pavilion. 78sqm, with King Size Bed and can accommodate up to 2 Pax.

Bars at La Pirogue, Mauritius offer a wide choice of contemporary tropical cocktails and rums and an important selection of beverages, liqueurs, beers and spirits of international brands, as well as delicious espressos, cigars.
Wolmar Restaurant – Open for breakfast and dinner and features a variety of sumptuous themed buffets including our weekly Mauritian Barbeque, served al fresco, in the adjacent tropical gardens. Early bird continental breakfast are served daily for the those off for a fishing trip, swimming with dolphins or for an early golf tee time. Magenta Seaside Restaurant – Beachside restaurant with perfect setting for romantic dinners under thatched pavilions featuring an a la carte menu with an emphasis on inventive Seafood and grilled dishes. A seafood beach Barbeque is featured every Friday. Open for Lunch, a la carte, 12h30 to 15h00. Open for Dinner, a la carte, 19h00 to 22h00. Every Friday – Soiree du Pecheur 19h00 -22h00. Closed on Sundays
Coconut Cafe – Transport yourself to the streets of Port Louis and enjoy a wide variety of Mauritian street food and local cuisine in a very casual poolside setting.
Citronellas Cafe – Oceanside Italian market-place styled restaurant offering light meals, featuring wood fired baked Pizza and Salads at lunch time and authentic regional Italian cuisine at dinner
Tides – Located at the beach front, this restaurant offers a World Seafood Cuisine for lunch and dinner. Here, guests compose their own seafood platter from fresh shellfish, mussels, oysters and a variety of handmade Sushi and Sashimi.

Le Morne Beach Bar – Located on the beach adjacent to our beach restaurant the Beach Bar offers casual all day drinking, light meals and the ideal place to enjoy a sundowner. In the evenings linger to enjoy a nightcap around the bonfire to the sounds of our own DJ or live musical ensemble.

Van Der Stel Wine Bar – Offering a choice of 60 wines by the glass served from state of the art dispensers and a membership card control system.
