Kuredu Island Resort & Spa
Kuredu Island is one of the most famous resorts in the Maldives. The is a fun informal resort with beautiful white sandy beaches, tastefully decorated bungalows and villas and surrounded by a turqoiuse lagoon. Kuredu is a large island with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and activities among them the first golf course in Maldives.
Our Opinion
Kuredu, like Meeru is a large island with a huge variety of facilities and a big choice of room types. It has excellent diving. Although you can snorkel it is not known for this. It is a great island if you are worried about boredom or have not been to the Maldives before. If you have to golf on holidays, this is a close as you can get to it in the Maldives! Jai has recently returned from a visit here so can offer first-hand knowledge and advise.
Location
Kuredu Island Resort on the northern reef of Lhaviyani atoll. An area famous for its beauty and abundant fish life. 80 miles north of the International Airport and 35 minutes by seaplane.
Accommodation
Kuredu has a variety of room categories to perfectly fit into your individual concept of holiday. Each of the bungalows and villas has traditional looks and include air-conditioning, fan, telephone with international dialing facility, CD player with CDs for loan, coffee and tea making facility, safe deposit box, well stocked mini bar, shower with hot and cold water, sun chairs and loungers.
Garden Bungalows – located amidst in lush gardens just behind the Beach Villas
Beach Bungalows – are similar to the Garden Bungalows, but are situated on the beachfront
Beach Villa – Boasting magnificent views of the Indian Ocean on the fine white beach a few steps from the beautiful lagoon. These Villas have a spacious bedroom and sitting area, a small garden and are exquisitely furnished with wrought iron furniture, romantic open-air bathrooms, walk in shower and feature a furnished verandah.
Jacuzzi Beach Villa – These Villas have a spacious bedroom and sitting area and nicely furnished with wrought iron furniture and feature a furnished verandah. Open-air bathrooms with walk-in shower. Each Villa has a spacious secluded garden with a wooden deck and a Jacuzzi.
Sangu Water Villas – on stilts over the water with a romantic view of the sun set from the secluded furnished veranda, sun deck and steps down to the beautiful lagoon.These Villas have a spacious bedroom and sitting area nicely furnished with wrought iron furniture with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and bathrooms with walk in shower overlooking the turquoise lagoon.
Restaurants & Bars
Bonthi Restaurant – located within the signature building of Kuredu in the centre of the island and it is the main restaurant for the guests in Beach Bungalows for all main meals. Bonthi serves international and local cuisine on rotating theme nights chosen from around the world.
Koamas Restaurant – also situated in the renovated signature building of Kuredu, serving international & local buffets with show cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner for all guests in villas on the southern coast of the island comprising of some Beach Villas, and Jacuzzi Beach Villas.
Sangu Restaurant – is the allocated Restaurant for the guests in the Sunset Water Villas. This restaurant accepts guests above 12 years of age only.
O Restaurant – with deck spreading over the water on the eastern end of the island has an ambience of being one with nature. This is the allocated restaurant for the new Beach Villas on the north eastern part of the island. This restaurant accepts guests above 12 years of age only.
The Sangu, O and Koamas serve wide buffets with show cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests in the Sunset Water Villas, Jacuzzi Beach Villas and Beach Villas can also eat in main restaurants other than their allocated restaurant if they choose to with a prior table reservation.
The Beach – serving your choice of BBQ steaks, lobster and seafood for dinner.
The Far East – with a Thai chef offering treats from all of Asia, open for dinner only. The fabulous Lobster Curry is not to be missed!
Francos – all day Italian dining serving late breakfast, pizzas, pastas, hamburgers and sandwiches.
Tea House – the local choice, serving Maldivian snacks, short-eats and curries, hot but very tasty. No alcoholic beverages are served in this outlet.
Special event dinners on the beach.
Babuna Bar – the main bar with entertainment and discos.
Akiri Bar – the quiet bar for the romantic evening.
Pool Bar – specialises in cool cocktails like, margaritas, daiquiris.
Sangu Bar – is the Bar for Sangu guests
O Bar – is luxury entwined with breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean.
Golf Bar – quench your thirst with a cold beer or a soft drink after your golf practice
Sai Kotari – is a tea house situated at the end of Kuredu harbour, Sai Kotari offers from dusk till midnight exclusive fresh Ceylon tea in 9 different flavours and a variety of coffee cocktails.
