Komandoo Maldives Island Resort is a magnificent Maldivian hideaway where the emphasis is very much on the individual. Our Opinion
This is a gem with an outstanding house reef and top diving. Jai has recently visited the island and loved the typically Maldivian style and atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly, guests and staff alike. Whether you are a couple, friends or family, this pretty resort is consistently well reviewed by all. It is a Robinson Crusoe style hideaway, with a very high ratio of repeat guests who return year after year and has a board basis to suit everyone.
Location
Komandoo is located at the top of the Lhaviyani Atoll, about 130 kilometers north of Male International Airport. The transfer is a scenic 40 minute seaplane flight over the North Male and Lhaviyani Atolls.
Accommodation
Komandoo Island offers spectacular Beach Villas, stunning Jacuzzi Beach Villas as well as Romantic Jacuzzi Water Villas. Each offers Four post beds, air conditioning and ceiling fan, mini bar, safe, telephone, sun lounger, beach towels, kimono, CD player and tea and coffee making facility.
Beach Villas – 62 sqm in size and all very attractive. Individual spacious bungalows in the shape of a shell. Built in wood with well-designed furniture. Every Beach Villa has a large wooden terrace overlooking the beach with sun lounges. The deluxe bathroom, partly open-air, with walk in shower in a lovely tropical garden is equipped with a circular glass shower cubicle.
Jacuzzi Beach Villas 76 sqm in size, romantic private villas with views of the Indian Ocean line a few steps from the beautiful lagoon. These Villas have a spacious bedroom and sitting area. They are exquisitely furnished and have shaded wooden terrace over the beach with sun beds. They also have a spacious secluded tropical garden with a wooden deck and a Jacuzzi.
Water Villas – 77 sqm in size and perched on wooden columns in the beautiful south lagoon with romantic views from a large, secluded, furnished, partly roofed terrace and sundeck with stairs down to the water. On the terrace you lie in comfort on a double sun lounger or under shade on a daybed. Enjoy breath taking panoramic views of the Indian Ocean or watch baby reef sharks learning to hunt or small rays resting in the quiet lagoon. These Villas have a spacious bedroom and sitting area and are exquisitely furnished with solid teak furniture. Bathrooms with walk in rain shower and a Jacuzzi bath overlooking the turquoise lagoon.
Restaurants and Bars
The Public areas, like Bar, Restaurant and Spa are all built in picturesque Maldivian style, with thatched roofs and exquisite furnitures In the romantic restaurant deck extends over water giving the unique experience of dining over water.
Falhu – The main restaurant with a variety of gastronomy delights.
Aqua – The new a-la-carte restaurant built on stilts above the water adds a new dimension to the facilities on Komandoo, it offers a variety in dining options.
