The New England fly drive takes in a bit more than the typical New England fly-drive. This is because we’ve included both Niagara Falls and New York City making this one of the most complete fly-drives in the Northeast.
Itinerary in Brief
DAY 01
BOSTON ARRIVAL
Arrive at Logan International Airport. Pick up your rental car and proceed to your hotel. Enjoy your evening at leisure.

DAY 02
BOSTON
This morning at 08:00 you will be met by an AmericanTours representative and provided with a welcome kit which includes driving instructions, vouchers, and maps for your tour. The remainder of the day is free to explore Boston, the cradle of American liberty. The Revolutionary Era comes to like along the Freedom Trail walking route. Visit the haunts of the patriots who stoked the fires of democracy throughout the Colonies.
DAY 03 DRIVING DISTANCE: 230 mI/ 370 km
BOSTON – WHITE MOUNTAINS
Your drive today takes you inland towards the spectacular scenery of the White Mountains, the “rooftop of New England,” a landscape dotted with historic villages and enchanting covered bridges. En route, experience breath-taking views of mountain ranges and pristine forests.
DAY 04 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 120 mI/ 200 km
WHITE MOUNTAINS – GREEN MOUNTAINS
Today, traverse the White and Green Mountain ranges that divide the New England states of New Hampshire and Vermont. The mountains are home to bears, moose, wild turkey, and deer. The route takes you through some of New England’s most beautiful scenery. Drive by Lyndonville and see Willey’s General Store in Greensboro before continuing through Craftsbury, a Grandma Moses kind of village, to Stowe. See picture-perfect villages and some of Vermont’s famous covered bridges.

DAY 05 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 300 mI/ 460 km
GREEN MOUNTAINS - LAKE PLACID - SYRACUSE
Leave the majesty of the Green Mountains for the equally impressive Lake Placid, in the heart of Adirondack Park. Created in 1892, the Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, encompassing approximately 6 million acres, greater in size than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park combined. Lake Placid, of course, was home to both the 1932 and the 1980 Winter Olympics. Continue to Syracuse for overnight.

DAY 06 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 163 mI/ 260 km
SYRACUSE - NIAGARA FALLS
Strike out on an easterly route towards breathtaking Niagara Falls. This evening, perhaps take an optional trip to Skylon Tower for dinner at its revolving restaurant. Skylon Tower, hovering 775 feet above Niagara gorge, features an observation deck that affords views of an 8,000 square mile area, truly almost as far as the eye can see.

DAY 07 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 88 mI/ 141 km
NIAGARA FALLS (TORONTO DAY TRIP)
Enjoy the day at leisure to explore the awesome natural wonder that is Niagara Falls. Ride into the falls aboard the Maid of the Mist (optional), stroll along Table Rock, view the thundering waters of the Horseshoe Falls, or walk under the falls at Cave of the Winds (optional). Alternatively why not visit nearby Toronto to see the CN tower and all that this cosmopolitan city has to offer.
DAY 08 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 374 mI/ 602 km
NIAGARA FALLS – GETTYSBURG
Enjoy the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York en route to Pennsylvania and the Amish Country. The lifestyle of the Amish people enhance the area’s rural beauty. Continue to the most famous Civil War battleground, Gettysburg.
DAY 09 / DRIVING DIStANC E: 235 mI/ 378 km
GETTYSBURG – PHILADELPHIA – NEW YORK CITY
Leave Gettysburg en route to New York via The City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. Take in Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell continuing on to the Big Apple.

DAY 10
NEW YORK CITY
A full day is yours to explore this exciting city, filled with people, famous sights, and skyscrapers. See the Statue of Liberty, Fifth Avenue, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, The United Nations, and much more.
DAY 11 / DRIVING DISTANCE: 270 mI./ 440 km
NEW YORK CITY – CAPE COD
You’ll drive east through the coastal towns and villages bordering Long Island Sound and pass through Connecticut and Rhode Island en route to the rustic charm of Cape Cod.
DAY 12
CAPE COD
A full day to explore magnificent Cape Cod with its high cliffs, rolling dunes, broad beaches, miles of walking trails, picturesque villages and delicious seafood. This peninsula is a beloved vacation spot for visitors and natives alike. Stop in Plymouth, a living panorama of Pilgrim and Colonial times and see the Mayfl ower II .

DAY 13 / DRIVING DISTANC E: 80 mI/ 130 km
CAPE COD – BOSTON
The heritage of colonial America is revealed today as you visit cities founded by the Pilgrims and the Puritans. In Boston, you can visit the haunts of the revolutionary patriots who stoked the fi res of democracy throughout the Colonies.
